Could the story throw light on her teachers and childhood? I understand the constraints of making a 2hour 'Hollywood film' would require certain sensibilities. However my pride and prejudice makes me sceptical of this version. Pride that Jane Austen was a lady author ahead of her time and prejudice that cinema makers often choose not to be.
